The final holiday of the summer of 2019 rolls out a couple of nights here at 81 Speedway with championship dirt track auto racing slated for Saturday (August 31 and Sunday, September 1). Saturday night will feature all four of the divisions sanctioned by the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA). Saturday night here at 81 Speedway was a very special night for one family with a son fighting a form of Brikett Lymphoma. James Miller, 13 years of age, from Hutchinson, Ks. was able to fill his dream of driving a race car like his family has been doing around area dirt ovals for more than 5 decades. BREAKING NEWS......The benefit for James Miller slated for 10am this morning has been postponed till 6pm tonight due to track conditions brought on by the morning rain. The speedway recently received a phone call on the passing of Dick Walker, 87, of Ark City, Ks. Dick spent most of his career driving Super Modified's with his best friend Harold Leep and Forest Coleman. His race career was most legendary back at CJ Speedway, 81 Speedway, Kansas State Fairgrounds and Dodge City Fairgrounds. Dick drove for many of the Elite car owners throughout his career.
